In the beginning... In 1994, under the unrelenting glare of a Fresno, California sun, E.E. Butow Services was born. In subsequent years, strategic Company growth made it possible to offer valuable new services including Web design, online marketing, technical documentation, and computer-based training services.
A tradition of integrity, value, and innovation. Company President and CEO Eric Butow carries with him a long standing family tradition of integrity, value, quality and innovation dating back to his grandfather, E.E. Butow. It was the elder Butow who became known and respected for pioneering organic vineyards in California's Mendocino County.
Picking apart the BCG logo. The distinctive BCG logo has its roots in the family vineyard, too. One of the Butow family's rites of passage is to introduce the youngest children to the wonders of the vineyard. As the little ones explored this verdant paradise, they would inevitably reach towards the hanging bunches of grapes and learn first hand what a vineyard is all about. It is the joy of that "moment of discovery" that is represented by the BCG logo. Our complete communication services (the circle) bring your customers (the reaching hand) into contact with the fruits of your labor (the grape cluster), where your customers discover your company and thereby grow your business.
BCG is also a certified small business (ref. no. 0023625) with the State of California.
Eric Butow started using computers in 1980 when he would regularly visit a friend's house to tinker with his friend's Radio Shack TRS-80 Model III and Apple II Plus computers. He has been involved in technical communication since 1988.
In 1994, Eric started E.E. Butow Services and ran his company on the side while he earned his master's degree in communication from CSU Fresno. In 2002, he changed the Company name to Butow Communications Group.
Eric moved to Roseville, California in late 1996 and took the Company with him, but he continued to run the Company on the side. Eric has worked at full-time and contract positions for various companies including EDS, Educaid Wachovia, Hewlett-Packard, CableData (now DST Innovis), Health Net, Intel, and Cisco Systems. Eric also served as editor of Sacra Blue, the Sacramento PC Users Group magazine, from 1997-99 as well as an officer and conference coordinator from 2001-04 in the Society for Technical Communication Sacramento Chapter.
Eric Butow is an accomplished author who has produced books for John Wiley & Sons, Sybex, Que, and Addison-Wesley. Eric started out as a technical editor for RoboHELP 7 for Dummies in 1999. Eric's most recent books include:
