Business Books
Starting a business was in my blood. My great grandfather, Albert Butow, started his own successful plumbing and heating business that got him and his large family through the Great Depression. My grandfather started a vineyard in Mendocino County, California.
My parents bought a bed and breakfast in Jackson, California, which is how I came to live in Jackson. I started Butow Communications Group in 1994 when I was laid off from my job at a sprinkler manufacturer in Fresno. (My first client was that manufacturer when they realized they still needed me.)
In 2023 and 2024, I wrote three business books in a row, and they have a lot of evergreen information that makes them worth your consideration.

- Assess your financing needs and take stock of your current assets
- Evaluate your options for loans, grants, and subsidies
- Learn to approach investors and pitch your business idea
As this is a Dummies book, you'll find it's not intimidating. We give you the information that's easy to read so you can implement the book's strategies quickly.

Grow Your Business
When you have your business plan and you know how you're going to fund it, you need to know how you're going to scale your business so it succeeds in the long term. That's why I took source material from Entrepreneur Media, updated it (and boy, was there a lot of updating), and wrote mean.
This book is about 170 pages because it has only what you need: specific strategies to build your business. This not only includes choosing the right mindset and plan for your business, but also managing sales, marketing, and teams. The book ends with two chapters: a reminder about taking care of yourself so you can scale, and how to scale while keeping your sanity.
The evergreen principles in this book mean you should keep it on a nearby shelf (or a visible link on your computer) to refer to them when you need a refresher.
