Social Media Books

Seven of Eric's most recent social media books.

My first computing books were about operating systems and web design starting with Master Visually Windows 2000 Server in (you guessed it) 2000. I contributed to books about Windows Vista (remember that?), Windows 7, and Windows 8. I even wrote about Google Glass For Dummies when everyone was sure that was the next big thing.

But my authoring career really didn't gain traction until I wrote my first social media book in 2008: Amp Your MySpace Page. MySpace was the hot social media website until an upstart called Facebook took over, but I wrote this book with Michael Bellomo during the peak of MySpace's popularity.

What's more, I wrote a book on LinkedIn with executive recruiter Kathleen Taylor that we presented to the Los Angeles Book Expo in 2008. After that, I didn't write any other social media books until Wiley (the publisher of For Dummies books) came to me and asked if I could write an Instagram book.

I contacted my local area marketing colleague Corey Walker, and she hooked me up with Instagram expert Jenn Herman. Now we've written three editions of Instagram for Business For Dummies, which is a bigger seller than Instagram For Dummies, the general audience version. Corey, Jenn, and I wrote the first two editions of Instagram For Dummies, and we're getting ready to write a third.

Writing the first edition of Instagram For Dummies was a springboard to writing a bunch of other social media books between 2020 and today:

  • Bluesky For Dummies
  • Ultimate Guide to Social Media Marketing for Entrepreneur Press (2 editions)
  • Digital Etiquette For Dummies
  • AI ChatBots For Dummies

I wrote a bunch of computing books in addition to what I told you about earlier, and you can read more about those on my Amazon author page here: https://amzn.to/3Uy4HC5
